One of Japan's more unusual high level crossings, the Obatani Loop Bridge is part of an upgrade and bypass that was made to an older route filled with dangerous twists and turns. The newer route 169 also has 5 long tunnels and 3 other bridges.

The 312 meter long Obatani Loop Bridge has a span configuration of 41.25+ 90 +100 +79.25 meters on piers as tall as 64 meters. The foundation piles are 25 to 27 meters deep. The loop road has a curving radius of 160 meters.
