Another exquisite bridge on France’s route 88, the slender Lignon Viaduc carries a two lane roadway across five 328 foot (100 mtr) box beam spans. Like a row of rockets on a launch pad, the piers of the Lignon Viaduct have three distinct stages that reduce their mass as they rise to the underside of the girder. Charles Lavigne was the architect with SECOA and Centre d'Etudes Techniques de l'Equipement de Lyon doing the design work.
