Shanwujiao Bridge is a large steel through arch crossing on the amazing G4216 Yibin to Panzhihua Expressway in Sichuan Province. The route has Sichuan's largest collection of high level bridges.
The side by side concrete filled steel tubular arch ribs have spans of 310 and 306 meters. There are many approach spans of 40 meters.
The route is also unique for having more large span arch bridges than any other highway on earth with a total of seven. These massive concrete and CFST arches include Xi'ninghe, Dahegou, Shangwujiao, Xisujiaohe, Yuewulada, Liutonghe and Daheba Bridges.
The G4216 Expressway parallels much of the Jinshajiang reservoir that was formed by the giant Xiluodu Dam. With a height of 285.5 meters, Xiluodu is among the 5 tallest concrete dams in the world and is located on the border of Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces 50 kilometers downstream from the Jinshajiang Bridge Kahaluo.
