Xinzhuang Bridge is the highest of several large beam spans on the Lipan Expressway that is partially completed from Panzhihua City to the border of Huaping County. The giant 1,110 meter long viaduct crosses a wide but very flat river valley requiring a pier as tall as 168 meters supporting 3 big back to back spans of 200 meters. When the entire expressway is completed in 2021 it will open up Lijiang City to more tourists from Sichuan and other points east.
