Magdalena Bridge is one of 6 major cantilevered beam spans that were built as part of an upgrade to the older Rumichaca – Pasto highway in the mountainous Narino region of Colombia. The project started in 2015 with the final bridges opening in 2021. The main construction contractor was Consorcio SH.
The dual Magdalena Bridges are approximately 190 meters long.
The 4 other high beam spans on the route include Boquerón, Porvenir, Macal and Guaitara Bridges. Although not as high, the Sapuyes Bridge is also large with a main span of 100 meters.
