Quite possibly the most unusual of China's many glass footbridges, the Zibo Tanxi Mountain span arcs out from the edge of a vertical cliff and waterfall within the Ezhuang National Forest Park. The unique counterbalancing cable stayed arch span design was borrowed from the famous Gateshead Millennium moveable tilt bridge in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England. Completed in 2001, the Gateshead Millennium Footbridge was designed by WilkinsonEyre. The deck width of the Zibo Tanxi Mountain Glass Footbridge is 2.45 meters.
In addition to the curving glass bridge, the tourist site also includes a cliff elevator that descends to a lake approximately 110 meters below the bridge deck.
