Europe's 5th highest bridge, the Corgo Viaduct is the largest of several big bridges along the Transmontana highway that cuts across Portugal and connects the coastal city of Porto with the western border of Spain. The giant crossing is one the longest high level bridges in Europe with a total length of 2,796 meters.

Corgo is divided into 3 main sections measuring 855, 768 and 1167 meters long. The west viaduct consists of 22 spans of 60 meters. These spans were constructed with an underslung system from Berd with formwork and machine operation by ConstruGomes. The initial deck sections were only 15.3 meters wide. Later a second form traveler widened the deck width to 25.3 meters. The east viaduct consists of 19 spans of 60 meters. The deck width was initially only 12 meters wide on the east side and eventually widened to 25.3 meters. The central cable stayed span is 28 meters wide with a configuration of 48+ 60+ 126+ 300+ 126+ 60+ 48 meters. The tallest tower measures 197 meters from foundation to top. Many sources have the bridge deck 230 meters above the river but an elevation drawing seems to put the deck 220 meters above the river surface. It is unclear which height figure is correct.
