There is no roller coaster from the 1920s more famous than the Coney Island Cyclone in New York. Completed in 1927 and designed by Vernon Keenan, the 75 foot tall ride has an incredible compact layout that seems to fold in on itself several times allowing 3 layers of powerful fan turns and rambunctious drops. The initial 53 degree plunge was the steepest wood coaster for many decades before it was matched in 1976 by the Texas Cyclone at the defunct Astroworld.

The bottom of the first drop has been altered over the years having been lowered to ground level before being raised back up around 3 feet above the ground in 2012 by GCI.
