Hejiaping is the only single tower cable stayed bridge along the G42 Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway that traverses along the north side of the Yangtze River within the famous 3 Gorges region of Chongqing and Hubei provinces.

Completed in 2011, the Hejiaping Bridge did not open to traffic until 2013 when the G42 expressway was finally complete between Yichang and Wushan cities.

The central tower rises 151 meters and supports a span configuration of 58+84+180 meters. The crossing has 21 pairs of cable stays. The deck is 27.5 meters wide with a maximum depth of 2.575 meters.
