Hoover Dam Intake Tower Bridge
Hoover Dam Intake Tower Bridge
Boulder City, Nevada, United States
338 feet high / 103 meters high
(120) foot span / (37) meter span
1935
Constructed in 1935 as a component of the huge Hoover Dam (then Boulder Dam) project, four 338 foot (103 mtr) high Intake Towers stand in the deep waters of Lake Mead behind Hoover Dam. Few people give much thought to the four box-shaped pedestrian maintenance bridges that connect the towers to the backside of Hoover Dam. That may soon change in the not too distant future if Lake Mead runs completely empty as some experts have predicted. Might it be too farfetched to see a day when the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation opens a bungee operation off of one of these bridges?
