Maotai Bridge is the third Yanjinhe River crossing and is part of a new 4-lane highway in the northernmost region of Guizhou province. The prestressed concrete beam bridge is the highest and most recent of 3 bridges that cross the Yanjinhe in the same location. The first was a concrete truss-arch that opened in 1995. Similar in design to the larger and more famous Jiangjiehe arch bridge, the Yanjinhe arch span was damaged a few years after it opened and had to be closed to automobile traffic. A second, replacement bridge came in 2007 when a 623 foot (200 mtr) span prestressed concrete beam bridge was built a half mile (one kilometer) upstream from the older arch bridge which is now only open to pedestrians.

The renowned Guizhou Maotai alcohol factory is located in Renhuai. The famous drink is the most consumed liquor in China with alcohol content that ranges from the standard 53 percent down to 35 percent. The drink has a soy-sauce like fragrance that is distilled from fermented sorghum. An observation tower shaped like a giant can sits high up over the Yanjinhe River gorge.
