Miyakodagawa Bridge
都田川橋
Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan
(213) feet high / (65) meters high
436 foot span / 133 meter span
2001
One of the more beautiful and interesting bridges along the 2nd Tomei Expressway, the Miyakodagawa Bridge is a 2-span extradosed structure with three towers. Inside the 83 meter tall towers are a rarely used series of steel pipes in place of rebar. This allows the piers to have better shear resistance during a seismic event.
