One of several giant viaducts on the southern fork of the high speed YiWan line between Yichang and Chongqing city, the Qingjiang Railway Bridge crosses the upper end of the famous Qing River which carved the deep Enshi Grand Canyon to the east. The bridge appears to have 2 main spans of approximately 80 meters and a number of smaller approach spans.

The YiWan Railway between Yichang and Chongqing cities is the most difficult stretch of railway ever built with 288 out of 377 kilometers running on bridges or in tunnels. At least 8 bridges on the route are over 100 meters in height. Although the route was open between Yichang and Wanzhou in late 2010, it was not until late 2013 that high speed trains ran along the track when it was completed to Chongqing city. The route splits after Lichuan, Hubei with one fork heading north to Wanzhou city and the southern fork heading to Chongqing city.
