Washimi Bridge
鷲見橋
Takasu, Gifu, Japan
(443) feet high / (135) meters high
456, 443 foot span / 139, 135 meter span
1999, 2019
Washimi Bridge is an elegant curving viaduct with what at the time of its completion in 1999 was Japan's tallest beam bridge pier at 118 meters. In 2019 the route was turned into a divided 4-lane expressway and the newer Southbound viaduct was constructed with a pier even taller at 125 meters becoming Japan's tallest pier ever.
The newer Washimi Bridge beam was built with steel corrugated walls instead of the all concrete box beam of the original 1999 Washimi Bridge.
エレガントな曲線を描く高架橋の鷲見橋は、387フィート(118m)という日本一高いビーム橋脚を持つと報告されています。
