西宁河大桥
Xinshizhen, Sichuan, China
328 feet high / 100 meters high
492 foot span / 150 meter span
2012
Xininghe Bridge route X163 was built as part of a huge road and resettlement project from the completion of the giant Xiangjiaba Dam across the Yangtze River (Jinsha Jiang). Routes G213, S307 and X163 had to be completely rebuilt from the reservoir that formed behind the 161 meter high dam. More then half the height of the original gorge below Xininghe Bridge is hidden under water.
The bridge has two approach spans on either side of 25 meters. The main arch has a clear span of 150 meters or 156 meters as measured along the deck with 12 short spans of 13 meters.
Just to the east is the massive Xininghe arch bridge with a main span of 470 meters that ranks among the 5 longest concrete arch spans in the world.
The area is home to 10 high bridges that have all been partially submerged in the reservoir including Xi'ninghe Bridge, the local route X163 Xi'ninghe Bridge, the S307 Xi'ninghe Bridge, Dahegou, Daqiaoxiang, Jinshajiang Bridge Xinshi, Jinshajiang Nan'an Bridge, Zhongduhe Expressway Bridge, Zhongduhe G213 Bridge and the Yangliuba Bridge.
