The Yangliuba Bridge crosses a tributary of the Jinshajiang River that has been submerged in water over 30 meters deep from the completion of the giant Xiangjiaba Dam across the river 70 kilometers downstream to the east. The beam bridge is part of the mountainous G4216 Yibin to Panzhihua Expressway that has several other high bridges and many long tunnels including the nearby Zhongdue cable stayed bridge and the giant 510 meter span Xi'ninghe arch bridge.
The Yangliuba beam bridge is composed of at least 3 separate structures with 6 lanes that lead into one of the highest interchanges in Sichuan Province.
The area is home to 10 high bridges that have all been partially submerged in the reservoir including Xi'ninghe Bridge, the local route X163 Xi'ninghe Bridge, the S307 Xi'ninghe Bridge, Dahegou, Daqiaoxiang, Jinshajiang Bridge Xinshi, Jinshajiang Nan'an Bridge, Zhongduhe Expressway Bridge, Zhongduhe G213 Bridge and the Yangliuba Bridge.
