The Zhengzhou to Chongqing high speed railway line will have several spectacular river crossings along a heavily tunneled route along the mountains north of the famous 3 Gorges region of Hubei Province.

The Shennongxi railway crossing will parallel the older G42 expressway bridge on a 260 meter beam span strengthened with a through arch. The deck of the bridge will be approximately 135 meters above the surface of the reservoir and 185 meters above the original level of the now hidden Shennongxi stream.

Other big bridges will include another large beam over the Daning River, a possible arch over the Meixi River and a 168 meter beam span over the Pengxi River.
