The Changtouhe Bridge is one of several giant beam bridges along the newer 6-lane G65 Expressway between Chongqing City and the Youyang to Yanhe Expressway in Chongqing Province. This improved route opened in 2023 and parallels the original G65 Expressway located to the north that opened in 2009.
The central pier rises an impressive 166 meters and supports a main span of 180 meters. The entire Changtouhe crossing is 580 meters long and consists of a span configuration of 116+180+80 meters with approach spans of 40 meters on the west side.
Just north of Changtouhe Bridge is the Wulong Exit Bridge that is part of the access road to the new G65 Expressway with a height of approximately 150 meters.
Also not to be overlooked is the equally impressive Changtouhe Railway Bridge 长途河双线大桥 located just a kilometer north. This double track high speed structure is 345.6 meters long with a colossal single tower 130 meters tall supporting two spans of 132 meters. The deck is at least 80 meters above the Changtou River.
