One of the highest aqueduct spans ever built, the Longchang arch bridge carries a 4 meter wide water trough over 125 meters above a deep tributary of the Sanchahe River canyon in mountainous Guizhou Province. The arch ring is 12 meters wide at the foundations and 5.5 meters wide at the crown.
The Longchang Aqueducts was created from channels behind the Jiayan Dam of the Liuchonghe River. The north channel route crosses the Xixhe Aqueduct while the south channel route crosses the Longchang Aqueduct.
The previous record holders for highest aqueduct bridge were the Roquefavour and Ponte delle Torri aqueduct bridges in France and Italy at 80 meters in height.
The route has several other large beam bridge aqueducts like the Xujiawan Bridge.
