The Third Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge is part of the Honshū-Shikoku Bridge Project that connects Honshū and Shikoku Islands across the Seto Inland Sea. Located at the southern end of the route, the three Kurushima Kaikyō Bridges make up the longest continuous section of suspension bridges in the world at 4,015 meters. The 27 meter wide steel box deck is supported by six towers and four anchorages.

The 3 Kurushima Kaikyo Bridges have main spans that measure 600, 1,020 and 1,030 meters.

The Nishiseto or Shimanami Kaidō Expressway has several other impressive bridges that connect a number of islands most notably the Tatara Bridge that was once the longest span cable stayed bridge in the world.
