Coretta Bridge
Viadotto Coretta
Barberino di Mugello, Tuscany, Italy
(230) feet high / (70) meters high
207 foot span / 63 meter span
1960
Although the A1 motorway has many more famous bridges north and south of the Coretta Bridge, this simple 3-span steel beam viaduct stands out for being less complex and more modern. Each viaduct has 3 main spans of 63 meters supported on two tall concrete piers.
Just to the south are the Aglio Bridges while to the north are the many famous A1 arch bridges including Poggettone and Pecora Vecchia, Gambellato, Merizzano and Biscione Bridges. The A1 Autostrada del Sole was the first major motorway to be built in Italy and is still the longest at 754 kilometers. The European route has also been designated the E35 and E45.
