Geierlay Footbridge
Hängeseilbrücke Geierlay
Mörsdorf, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany
(230) feet high / (70) meters high
1,181 foot span / 360 meter span
2015
Germany's 2nd longest span footbridge opened in 2015 near the small town of Mörsdorf and is the 14th longest pedestrian span among all footbridges in the world. The Tibet-style span of 360 meters has no towers and follows a natural sag as it crosses high above a forested valley. A loop trail starts in Mörsdorf and leads guests across the bridge and down into a river valley before returning back into the town.
Although several sources have the height of the Geierlay Footbridge at 100 meters, photos and the shallow slope of the valley would seem to indicate a height of no more then 70 meters.
