The Zhengzhou to Chongqing high speed railway line will have several spectacular river crossings along a heavily tunneled route along the mountains north of the famous 3 Gorges region of Hubei and Chongqing Provinces.
The Shennongxi railway crossing will parallel the older G42 expressway bridge on a 260 meter beam span strengthened with a through arch. The deck of the bridge will be approximately 120 meters above the surface of the reservoir and 175 meters above the original level of the now hidden Shennongxi stream.
Other big railway bridges include a 340 meter concrete arch over the Meixi River, a 200 meter beam-arch span over the Pengxi River and a 300 meter steel arch over the Daninghe.
