Jinyin'ao Bridge might only be around 60 meters high if measured directly to the top of a waterfall but if measured to the bottom of the 100 meter tall waterfall located just a few meters further downstream, the drop is around 160 meters. This river flows into the nearby Jinshajiang River. The structure has a configuration of 55+110+55 meters.

The improved 2-lane road was built to allow easier access to the construction and operation of the giant 240 meter tall Wudongde Dam across the Jinshajiang River between Yunnan and Sichuan Provinces.
