The Yichang Baimaxi Bridge is a huge 6-lane arch truss that consists of steel members sandwiched between two concrete slabs on the Yichang West Ring Expressway with a width of 33.5 meters. Just a few kilometers south is the giant Nanjinguan Yangtze River Bridge with a steel box stiffened main span of 1,200 meters. The spectacular suspension span crosses a deep canyon of the Yangtze River Gorge where a lake has formed below the Gezhouba Dam near Yichang City. Also nearby is the older Xialaoxi arch bridge that opened in 1996.
