Xixihe Bridge Qianda
黔大高速西溪河大桥
Honglinxiang, Guizhou, China
945 feet high / 288 meters high
623 foot span / 190 meter span
2015
The Xixi River bridge is the second of 3 high crossings that have been built over this narrow crevasse in the northern region of Guizhou Province. The giant beam bridge is also the second highest beam span in the world after the Liuguanghe Bridge on the nearby Guibi highway. The new Xixihe Bridge is part of the 4-lane Qianda expressway that bypasses the older 2-lane Guibi highway. This more direct route between Qianxi and Dafang has essentially made the original Guibi highway obsolete for all but local traffic. The original Guibi highway Xixi River suspension bridge was completed in 2001 while a high speed railway arch on the new line between Chengdu and Guiyang is due for completion in 2018 and will be one of the highest railway bridges in the world at 255 meters.
As one of the world's largest highway viaducts, the Xixi bridge commands attention with half of its 1,315 meter length resting more than 100 meters above the ground. The central spans of 190 meters rest on piers 118 meters tall.
