Jiangdihe Arch Bridge
江底河拱桥
Yongren, Yunnan, China
325 feet high / 99 meters high
492 foot span / 150 meter span
2006
Located along an old transportation route that was part of the famous Silk Road, the Jiangdihe arch bridge was a replacement for a much lower level arch bridge that was completed in 1956 and had become neglected. Prior to these spans there was a chain suspension bridge with a span of 80 meters. The new concrete arch measures 221.65 meters long.
The concrete arch was built with 6 parallel ribs. Each rib consists of 5 sections that were lowered into place by a highline.
