Wumengshan Bridge is a large concrete arch bridge that parallels the older 2-lane Azhihe suspension bridge that was completed in 2003. The Azhi River gorge is composed of nearly vertical cliffs that plunge hundreds of meters to the Guangzhou Dam reservoir surface.
The main span of 270 meters was constructed by a mountain to mountain highline with a span of 750 meters. The single arch truss consists of steel members sandwiched between two concrete slabs.
The 6-lane Wumengshan Bridge is the largest and highest arch bridge along the mountainous Naqing Expressway between Nayong and Qinglong in Western Guizhou Province.
Other spectacular high bridges on the route include the gargantuan Liuzhi arch-beam viaduct, the Zangkejiang suspension bridge and the Baishuihe arch bridge.
