Unlike so many of the world's high beam bridges that pass over forested ravines with few signs of human habitation, the Hejiaba Bridge is located almost entirely above a cityscape of high rises, roads and people. The unique crossing is part of the great G65 expressway that extends for 3,017 kilometers from Guangdong near the South China Sea to Baotou, Inner Mongolia. The most special stretch, however, begins in Jishou where the great Aizhai Bridge is located in Hunan Province. As the route extends north and then west to Chongqing city, the G65 crosses approximately 10 more bridges 100 meters or higher.

The Hejiaba Bridge follows a gentle arc across a span configuration of 4x 30 + 65+4x110+65 +2x30 meters. The maximum pier height is 84 meters.
