The New Xialaoxi Bridge is a huge 6-lane CFST Concrete Filled Steel Tubular arch bridge on the Yichang West Ring Expressway. Just a few kilometers south is the giant Nanjinguan Yangtze River Bridge with a steel box stiffened main span of 1,200 meters. The spectacular suspension span crosses a deep canyon of the Yangtze River Gorge where a lake has formed below the Gezhouba Dam near Yichang City. Also nearby is the older Xialaoxi arch bridge that opened in 1996.
