Shigu Bridge is one of China's largest viaducts with two main spans of 330 meters supported by three giant towers 278,276 and 271 meters tall. The crossing is very similar to the three span Chishi Bridge in Hunan Province.

The 117 kilometer 4-lane expressway connects Lijiang with Weixi County and is composed of bridges and tunnels for 82% of the route.

Further north is the equally spectacular Liming Bridge with four back to back extradosed spans.
